Southcrest Manor Hotel, Best Western Signature Collection - Redditch

Well-organized, neat place with well-trained and very responsive staff who must be congratulated for their efforts.

quiet atmoshere and attentive staff

Had beautifully maintained room complete with the TV and a garden view plus top of the range Grohe showers. The hotel was in a stunning location really close to too many National Trust gardens as well as Redditch centre and surrounding countryside.

I stayed over night for a wedding venue. I arrived early on the morning, and was greeted by very friendly staff, from the reception, catherine, and all the staff. My room was beauitiful, very clean. I had a wonderful time, the food was wonderful, also the surroundings.I Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. A 5 star in the making!

The hotel was very clean, the food was very good & the staff very helpfull with a cheerfull attertude. I would say slightly under staffed at busy times. Ie,breakfast for 40 quests & only 2 serving & making tables ready.But considering the age of the staff on the weekend we stayed I think they did a first class job while also having to deal with wedding guests. We have now stayed twice & would have no problems returning.The only non important comment I would make is that the tv signal quality in the room was terrible you could only watch 2 channels

Cheerful, friendly and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Room good size, beds comfortable, bathroom facilities good.

No lift. No draught beer in the bar. One of the main reasons for booking this hotel was the free Wi Fi internet service but it was down during the whole of our stay. However, this was more than compensated for by the helpful, friendly staff.

perfect base for city strolls and park visits

I appreciated the smooth check-in and the well-maintained room. The fine arrow valley country park is just under 3 km away.

Quiet and peaceful

On leaving the hotel on Sunday 24th July and settling our bill, we noticed that we had been charged for food and drinks (2 items) used on the Friday night 22/07/11 that were not ours. The receptionist checked and there was no signature on the tab. We did state that we did have a drink when we got back late pm and I did sign that tab for £7.70 Please can the staff ensure that they get signatures for everything as I did pay for one item which was not ours (receptionist was told but still left it on) - and I did not notice it was still there on the amended bill.

The hotel is set in its own grounds, the setting was very picturesque. The bedrooms where comfortable and clean. The reception staff where very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. The breakfast's were good and plentiful.

When they had other functions on at the Southcrest, I felt that they had difficulty coping and appeared to be short staffed. The ordinary guest was pushed to one side in favour of the groups who attended the functions. We was left waiting at the bar whilst the bar maid served guests from a wedding, who came to the bar after us and was served first. In my opinion they seemed to get priority over the ordinary guest. We was also asked to move our car which we had parked in the disabled parking space, even though we had our blue badge in, due to a wedding and the bride didn't want a car obstructing the function room window. The space wasn't obstructing the window or blocked off like the other spaces. The times for dinner didn't correspond with what we was informed at check in and we were informed that we where too early for dinner we arrived at 6.45pm and dinner wasn't served until 7pm. We had been informed that dinner was from 6pm.On the first morning we had to ask for glasses, fruit juice and glasses to be restocked/filled and on the third morning we had to wait 3/4 hour for our cooked breakfast.

The spacious Standard Family Room accommodated us well, and the breakfast was a fantastic start to our day, offering delicious options that kept the kids happy.

My children wished for more play areas and activities .

Friendly staff

The breakfast was dissapointing. The bacon was cooked in fat which was black and looked horrible and the fat was running on the plate. There were no pots of jam available and the toast was not "browned". Get the breakfast right and I would recommend this hotel.

Location Night porter was very efficient and friendly.

Reception we had to wait and go seek someone to book in 5mins. No bell or any other means of attracting attention. Room was cold we were told it would take 10mins to warm up but after half an hour they had to bring a portable heater to warm the room. Breakfast was a huge dis appointment.Fruit juice was powdered and tasted stale.No croisants,or alternatives to cerials.

The staff really were fantastic and put themselves out to make our family get together at the hotel as lovely as possible. We all had a brilliant time and the staff really contributed to this.

Good value english staff clean

The staff were friendly and the breakfast was ok.

The bathroom was particularly clean. The carpet had bad stains. One of the twin beds was partly under the window sill and there was a constant draft - no double glassing. I would have been really annoyed if I had paid the normal rate - luckily we had book with the discount.
